Do-it-yourself-5k

This morning when I woke up, I could only locate one 5K race in honor of the MLK holiday. To the best of my recollection, I think it was called the 1st Annual Run Like a Slowpoke 5K.

Wanna know the biggest perk to my new-found run? I placed first in my age group ~ can you even believe it? I will definitely be doing this run again. Only problem is, when other runners get wind of my fantastic race, the competition may get stiff. But being the Race Director, I do have the option to be selective about who I let compete ;)

Other than having brick-legs, I felt pretty good for my new race. I am definitely thinking this will be an annual event.

Create & Win-Your-Own-5k-Race:

Lap 1: 11:55
Lap 2: 11:31
Lap 3: 11:49
.10 mile: 10:59 pace

Total Distance: 3.1 miles
Total Time: 36:21
Average pace: 11:44

It would have been a nice day to run 5k down MLK Boulevard. Oh wait, we don't have one. Every other city does. Good job, but your gonna have to run faster than that if you don't want me to catch you at the skirt chaser!

Self-directed races are the greatest. Make sure you get the 2nd annual Trypto Trot on your calendar for this coming Thanksgiving. I won the 1st annual one and will be winning all of them, but you're welcome to participate. I'll put you down for a close 2nd Place for 2008.

Here's the race report:

So, sorry you still got the brick legs. I am getting scared again. I have brick legs after 6.

Very cute, that's the ONLY way I'm going to win my age group. Nice splits, you're making me jealous.

I was all set to do my own MLK Day 5k... until I realized today wasn't MLK day; I'm reading this a day late. Oops! :) Congrats, but watch out for me to contest your win next year (assuming I remember).

Hi Pokey

You are such a great champion... Congratulations! I want you to know that you are just the type of runner I wrote my last post for. I think those splits are absolutely wonderful and in case you are wondering I've done the math.. You beat 100% of the couch potatoes out there.

Thanks for visiting me and letting me get to know you.

Best of luck.
