The back-to-school-morning-circus at the Pokey House was in full swing again this morning.
*sigh*
Please tell me I am NOT the only parent that simultaneously dreads and looks forward to the kids going back school after a long holiday break???
The last few weeks have been so relaxed ~ ~ most of the time spent with all of us at home, nowhere pressing to go in the mornings, sleeping in, eating breakfast together ~ sometimes not even taking a shower until almost noon. But then the kids ~ particularly my oldest ~ start getting a bit antsy and I can tell they are ready to be back on a structured schedule with some consistency.
School started back again today for both kids, and I am reminded again as to why I DRINK. Okay, so it’s only coffee ~ but it sure does the trick. I always set my coffee pot to have my coffee brewed and ready for consumption at the precise time I am set to make my way downstairs ~ this way I am less apt to go crazy over the circus that is about to ensue.
And so it is ~ break is officially over. Each morning (except when I work from home) from now on is spent in a tornado-like mode with me trying to get myself and both boys out of the house in a somewhat civilized manner. How do parents that have more than 2 children do this? I am in awe. My hubby should be grateful that he is a teacher and is already surrounded by 25 high-school students by 7am so that he doesn’t have to contend with a dawdling 10 year old and rowdy 3 year old….and a grumpy, stressed-out wife!
To ease my stress and remind me why I undertake this ringmaster role each morning, I’ll post some pictures of my amazing kids. See ~ when they look like this, I hardly want to ring their necks ;)

Aww, they are SO cute. I totally know what you mean about mornings--they suck. Thank God for coffee!
I know what you mean by having the coffee ready when you get down stairs. I just hate it when you clean out the pot, put water in the coffee maker, and set the timer. When you get up and want that coffee, you find out that you only have hot water, you forgot the coffee beans. I have done that twice this past month. I hate that.
I am so bad in the mornings. I get up as late as humanly possible and then bark orders like a drill sargeant at the kids :X
They are WAY too cute to ring necks. Adorable. You are not the only one. Mine only go to daycare (3 and 5) but it is a challenge getting them out. Especially if they don't go to bed early! I feel like I'm always pressuring them to take a bite, do this, do that. And I work from home so sometimes don't even need to get myself ready. If I had to add that in, I'd have to go to bed much earlier!!
No way those cuties cause a circus in the morning :-P
I know what you mean about the circus to get out the door on time. I do the coffee pre set as well. I just was a lil cooler here to enjoy my warm coffee.
I hear you sister, I was trying to explain what going back to the routine meant once you have a child... alas... coffee. And Booze and night. ha!
I think The Boy and I are missing our freedom this week. Alas.
Good looking kids, you have.
Glad to hear that the morning thing is not confined to my house!
What's that white stuff on the ground? Do you you live in central AZ???
I remember those days. Mine are now teens and I am thankful when vacation is over.
Cute boys! I have a soft spot in my heart for little guys...I have two myself. I totally understand your morning circus. I live it everyday and I usually am ready for a strong cocktail at 9:15am.
I totally had the love hate today as well! Ahhh but no fighting made school a happy thing. LOL
confession time - my kids get up on their own, make their own breakfast and get ready for the school bus before I get up. Of course, they're in high school.
Now, on a more important note. How can you let your one boy wear the black and gold stuff. I can't even say their name. Please tell me that the other boy doesn't have a Cowboys logo on the back of his coat?
