It's like Crack

(Or, I guess it is.....seeing as how I've never actually done crack, it's just an educated assumption!)

Running, I mean. Running is like my crack.

No, not like Plumbers' Crack......RUNNING CRACK! Are you following me now???

Nothing makes me feel physically and mentally better than a great, morning long (ish) run with friends. This morning Pat and Caroline and I (in our attempts to revive the Tumbleweed Running Club) met at 6am for the start of the long-run season.

We were blessed with better-than-normal weather, which included a mostly overcast sky ~ which in our temps, is a HUGE bonus. We hit 4 miles together on the canal, and then I added an extra mile around Tumbleweed Park to round off my even 5 miles for today. I started feeling pretty good around mile 3, which is typical for me....so I decided to take advantage of the feeling and keep on keepin' on!!! And the first long run of the fall is in the books.

There is NOTHING better than coming home and taking a long shower after a great run. It boosts my mind, my body ~ and I just feel exceptional for the rest of the day! Days like today remind me why I run. It's my CRACK! I'm addicted.....I love it....and I need MORE!

See you next week TRC ~ same time, same place! I have 6 miles on my plan....could it be another 6 at 6???

Caroline and I noticed your crack, but we didn't want to say anything.

I mean your addiction to running.

Isn't it great that the temps are getting cooler and we can actually enjoy morning runs again? :)

Hi,
I ran across your blog link on Runners Lounge. I like your post. I have also said running is like crack but it is not received very well by my church friends. =)

Great blog! Good luck on your runs!

It certainly is addictive. I know I can't get much done elsewhere in my life unless I run. Keeps me honest and sane.

Well done on the 5 miles.

It is addicting isn't it. I love that! But how you guys get going so early is a mystery to me. I know you don't have much choice were you live, but that is truly dedication.

Great job!!! Wow, what a confidence booster you got. Good for you, and I agree - getting a run in in the morning, then having the day know you accomplished your goal. Awesome!

I used to not understand people who felt bad when they couldn't run but now it makes TOTAL sense to me! Now I'm one of those who needs a running fix!

TRC should meet up with EWF. We'd have a ball. I know I love you and judging from Pat's comment, I already love him too! You would love Amy and Art.

Someday....

Seek treatment at the nearest marathon immediately.

AWESOME! I am the same way, about getting over the hump at mile 3. What is up with that? Endorphins, I suppose. I just wish they were automatic at mile 1, LOL. Now adays, if I don't have time for at least 4 miles, it seems like a waste of time to even run because I don't get the AHHH benefit until then. But, usually I just take what I can get and run what I can, when I can.

This post had me totally cracking up because I am the same way. I love to run and basically do it 20 out of every 21 days on average. I don't run because I have to.. I run because I enjoy the feeling of actually running and that is not to mention the post run shower and there are also those endorphins to consider and .... spoken like a true addict.
