Rock N Roll Half Marathon

I am totally behind in posting any kind of update on the half marathon last weekend, but life has just been extremely busy (and not entirely in the best of ways unfortunately). Between being sick with bronchitis for the past 2 weeks, and work.....it's left me in a bit of a running funk. Instead of whining, I tend to *hole up* for a while. Thus, the lack of posting ;)

I did go out and complete the Rock N Roll Half Marathon, and loved every minute of it. I honestly didn't mind if I went out and walked the entire thing ~ the goal was just to go and do it. I was still pretty sick, but it all went well.

I basically jogged the first 10K, walked the next 4 miles straight, and jogged in the last 5K. It's funny how much you can enjoy a race when there is no mental pressure to perform well :) I finished without leaving a lung on the sidewalk, in just over 3 hours.....so it ended up being a very good day.

I'm still struggling with some endurance issues, and even a 5 mile run with the "3-C's" (Christina, Caroline and Candace) this morning proved to be a challenge. My schedule has me heading for Huntington Beach this weekend to run with the amazing Viv ~ so we gotta chat today and come up with a plan. Perhaps a down scale to the 5K might be more in order for me......we'll just have to see.

I don't have much of a race report, so I'll let it ride with some great pictures of some great running peeps at the RNR Half......it was a great time!

Huge congrats to both Pat and Lisa who seriously PR'd this race, and to Candace who ran her very first half marathon in a faster time than I even allow myself to imagine :) Great times!!

Glad to hear you had fun. I have enjoyed the three HM's there I have done. I think it is a fun race, but if you are ever doing this for a PR, make sure you start as far up as you can to avoid the traffic in the early miles.

Hope you get better and back to running.

You got out there and had fun. Enough said. Great attitude.

Seems like these mega races are tough to PR with all of the traffic. You did much better in December, so you know you can do it. What made that one so different?

Funny, my favourite half was The Distance Run in Philly. I ended up walking a lot of that one too. :)

Congrats on sticking it out... hope you heal up from the bronchitis soon.

Hope you feel better. I am glad to hear that your lungs was not on the sidewalk after you did the half marathon. Congrats for getting the job done.

My last few races have been the "finish if I have to walk it" kind, and when I walked, I walked slowly. I think I enjoy the actual race experience more when I'm just going slow and mingling with the other runners. But, when it's over, I have that "wish I'd run fast" feeling. When I go out and run my best, I don't necessarily enjoy it as much during the event, but I feel really good about it after. I'm pretty sure that is vanity on my part.

Hope you are feeling better soon!

You start to take a gander at practicing from an alternate perspective. Mesmerizing is a useful asset that encourages you to roll out amazingly positive improvements to yourself and your life. Fasting to shed pounds isn't just unsafe, however isn't an approach to for all time shed pounds.
